I finished the new Harry Potter tonight. I am a fast reader but I find myself reading even faster when it's one of the HP books. I think J.K. does a good job of engrossing you into the story and making you want to keep turning the page. I think I'll write a review about it in a week or two so as to not disturb those who are still in the process of reading it.
If you do have any questions about it, feel free to let me know.

Posted by: Josh on June 27, 2003 02:40 PMI just wanted to ask if you thought the same thing I did. When Harry was trying to find out if Sirius was really at home or had been kidnapped how could he have possibly forgotten tha Sirius had gien him a present to help contact him. Also after Sirius is dead and Harry finds it and realizes it was a mirror to see him with why wasn't he more upset with himself for not thinking of it sooner. Maybe I'm over thinking it oh well.
Posted by: harry fanatic on June 30, 2003 10:01 PMI don't think you are overthinking it at all. I did find that a bit odd but then I was thinking that Harry was just acting like a 15-year-old and only looking at the small picture of Sirius being missing and in trouble. Plus, he wasn't listening to any suggestions from anyone else so if anyone would have mentioned it, I'm sure he would have ignored them.
As far as him not being more upset at himself, I'm guessing that will come up later. He really hadn't left the anger stage of grief (if you believe in the various steps someone has to go through). I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't come up again in book 6.

Posted by: harry fanatic on July 5, 2003 10:52 PMi completely agree with the fact that Harry should have remembered the mirror earlier, but oh well. I was heart broken along with Harry, and felt betrayed when he did not become angrier that sirius was dead.

Posted by: harry fanatic on July 15, 2003 05:55 PMhey I thought you going to write a review of the fifth book. Ive been coming back everyday just to see it
Posted by: harry fanatic on July 24, 2003 05:05 PMSorry about that. I've been a little swamped with work and stuff. I'll try and put it together within the next couple of days.
Posted by: josh on July 24, 2003 05:13 PMPlease hurry. Ah forget it Ill write one you read it ok?
Ill post it here in two days.
Bye
The fifth book was a dissapointment to all who ever read the Hary Potter books and fell in love with thw charachters. It read like a piece of poorly written fan fiction. Obvisiously Rowling is running out of ideas.
Many of the things Rowling says in book five cotradicts what weve learned of the wizarding world up untill this point. Rather than reading like a continuation of a story weve been reading all along, it reads like a new book. One example of this would be the threstrals. In book four when they left school aboard the carriages Harry did not see them but he had seen Cedric die. Another example is Harrys new attitude in book 5. Suddenly he is cruel and angery more like V than himself. Through out the books good(harry) vs(V) has been an on going theme but in book 5 Harry seems to be turning evil. Lastly, in book 5 Sirius starts to care more about himself than Harrys needs. Anyone who had read the previous books knows this is completely out of charachter.
And of course my biggest problem with the book as you all already know is the way she lat Sirius die. He simply falls behind a viel that seperates life and death and thats it hes dead???? NO. I understand that sometimes acharachter has to die, but he should have died jumping infront of the Avada Kedra curse for Harry, not by being stunned and falling into a veil. First of all, Sirius is a hero. He should have died like one. Secondly, he was suppose to be top in his class. He woul d have known better than to allow himself to be in a position where if stunned he would fall into the death veil. This was the second time Rowling had taken him completely out of his charachter for this book and this time she murdered him that way.
Out of the five books this was the worst. It is poorly written and is not conhesive to the other 4 books. It barely sounds like Rowlings writing. If you have yet to read the book I suggest you dont as it will ruin the first 4 for you. Rowling if you ever read this, take some advice from afan and do another book five. Use any excuse as acop out just do it. You have awonderful series and this one book ruuins it.

Posted by: harry fanatic on August 28, 2003 04:27 PMHi guys,
Read HP Book V. It's cool. I dont agree with Josh that it is sooo bad and ruins the series and all that.
I personally agree on one point about the thestrals that why couldn't harry see them before when he had seen his parents die, hadn't he? Does that mean James and lily are alive?
Sirius's death beyond the veil could not seriously mean his death. It could be a secret that JK has to tell us in Book 6 or 7. If he had suffered the Aveda Kedavra curse, his death would have been sure but this type of death with just a Stupefy spell and falling behind a veil could well mean that when Voldemort dies Sirius will come back or that sort of thing.
Harry is been visioned as frustrated and angry because of circumstances. He had been not told that he was being followed. The Daily Prophet was writing rubbish about him. All the others were treating him as a maniac and Dumbledore as an old fool. These were just a few causes of his anger and frustration.
Posted by: Vineet crazy HP fanatic on September 1, 2003 02:27 AMActually, I'm not the one who said it ruined the series. I will post my review soon I hope.
Posted by: Josh on September 1, 2003 12:21 PMBOOK FIVE IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I have to ask someone what they think about this. In an interview at Albert Hall Rowling said that Sirius' death was her way of showing that death is sudden and cruel that it is not always expected and that she felt this was important to protray in a time of war. Do you think this means Sirius will not return as that would ruin the point of the death.
