Very interesting idea over at Open Gardens. Basically, instead of worrying about everyone's numbers (and yes, we all have multiple ones), why not instead start tagging people with descriptions of who they are and the relationship they have with us.
So, I want to communicate with you. I will no longer have to run the gauntlet of numbers, IMs or email addresses which all point to you. I'll just ask something to communicate with you. It will be the service's job to know how to contact you and put us in touch. If you were to add presence information, the service would know what your status was and which device to use for the communication.
