Once we decided to build our home, we began the process of looking for a builder who had the workmanship, quality and style of home we wanted. We also needed to find a custom builder so we could design it exactly as we wanted. This was going to be our forever home, so we took our time going to open houses, Parade Of Homes, and online shopping. We built our first home in Lakeville in 1989, so we were very familiar with what was ahead of us. We had appointments with several other builders, then walked into one of Stone Cottage’s models. We were greeted by Sheryl and felt an instant connection with her. She was very knowledgeable of Stone Cottage’s models, lots, materials, etc. We then met with Troy and quickly decided that this was the builder we wanted to work with, and who would work with us, as we intended to do some of the work ourselves. Stone Cottage was one of the few builders who agreed to that. We found our lot out in the country, and Troy met us there to determine if this was a good lot, where to put the house, etc. His expertise was invaluable. We visited the build site every day to see what had been accomplished. We got to know some of the workers as we were very involved in the process. Once we were ready to do some of the work ourselves, Troy and Brian were very accommodating letting us know when we should be done with what we were doing (laying tile and Installing the Wirsbo for example) so not to slow down the next set of workers who were scheduled to be at the house. We love our new home, the people we worked with, the designers who helped us pick out the finishes inside and out, Troy, Sheryl and Brian who worked side by side with us to help us not only envision our new home, but helped make it happen. We highly recommend Stone Cottage to anyone who is looking for a custom home builder.

My Clients began looking for a new construction builder in June 2018. We visited with many local and national builders with projects in the south suburbs. Personally, I learned of Stone Cottage Construction through a colleague who had built a home with them nearly four years prior and shared her positive experience with me, which led us to visit several of the Stone Cottage models and were impressed with the quality of work and reasonable prices. In comparison to the larger national builders, the great attention to detail they provide to each home they construct and the care and diligence they took with each home and customer was admirable. Some of the larger companies can cut corners and try to mass produce as many new homes as possible to churn profit and fail at customer service, but that was never how the past customer and my clients felt with their experience working with Stone Cottage. We also appreciated the basic package contained upgrades that the other builders tend to upcharge for. Items such as enamel on the doors, stone on exterior, water softener and granite were included as part of the standard package. In August 2018, we met their team to discuss the process and answer questions. Stone Cottage provided exceptional customer service. They were all patient, understanding and it was apparent that they had pride in what they were selling. Their pricing was transparent and easy to understand without hidden fees. We appreciated their patience and ideas/recommendations on the design. After the first contact with Stone Cottage, the decision was very easy for my Clients to build with the local builder. Despite my Clients making a few changes during the design phase, the purchase price can in at exactly what the purchase agreement stated. My Clients moved into their new home in January 2019. As a realtor, I found the process very easy and problem - free. I actually found myself feeling guilty that I wasn't needed more. However this goes to show that my Clients were in trusted hands and the process was very efficient and issue free that heavy realtor involvement was not needed. There were no surprises throughout the process. My Clients were extremely pleased with the end to end process and outcome. The home was complete on time and small list of punch items were also complete timely. Additionally, Stone Cottage were very understanding with some obstacles that arose (unrelated to their work) and provided some exceptions to my Clients, such as allowing them to move their belongings into the house before closing. I would highlight recommend Stone Cottage Construction to anyone looking to build.
