Building a Stone Cottage Construction Home
When building a new home, there are a number of steps that Stone Cottage Construction takes to ensure your experience is everything you dreamed it would be.
Step One: Consultation
Our first meeting is a chance for us to learn about you and for you to tell us what you want to build. We will interview you about what you are looking for in your new home. At this meeting you will also meet the builder. We will discuss where your lot is located or your options for building on one of our inventory lots. We will discuss your style, and your comfort level or budget for your new home. We will want to know what your wants and needs are in your new home and what is most important to you. We will also discuss financing options.
Step Two: Architectural Design
Keeping budget in mind we will start to design according to your style and the features you want included in your new home. This is the fun part, you bring your ideas, we will bring our years of experience. We want you to feel like you have a very hands on experience during the design of your home, after all no one utilizes the spaces in their homes the same, why should settle for less and have all of the houses in your neighborhood be built the same?
Step Three: Pricing
This step is completed once we know what we are building and what you would like to include in your new home. The purchase agreement between SCC and the buyer will be written at this point.
Step Four: Interior Design & Product/Material Selection
Get Inspired! Share your picture from Houzz, Pinterest, etc. we love new ideas. You will begin the Selection process at Stone Cottage Construction’s private design center. You will have the assistance of an interior designer to help personalize your new home. We have chosen to make this process easier for you by including most of your materials in-house, this eliminates the need to carry samples from vendor to vendor.
Step Five: Pre-Construction
Final preparations and details are completed to ensure a smooth building phase. You will have a pre-construction meeting with the builder to go over the final details of your new home. This is also the time that SCC will be reviewing expectations for the schedule, progress and materials selected. We will also establish a construction start date and final schedule or projected close date.
Step Six: Construction
Now the hard work of Steps 1-5 all come to life. Project oversight of the construction process is conveniently offered to you thru a web based software called BuilderTrend.
Step Seven: Stay in the Loop with BuilderTREND
Your BuilderTREND project management system enables simple and secure communication 24/7 to keep projects moving smoothly and transparently. With a BuilderTREND login, clients can track every detail, including:

Step Eight: Completion
With the finish line in sight, it’s time to meet with the builder to introduce you to your new home.
You will meet at your home to do a walk-thru, “Punch List”, and get a quick review of the appliances, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Your walkthrough also includes quick tips of maintenance to keep your home happy and healthy. This will help ensure everything is ready for the closing with the bank and Stone Cottage Construction.
Step Nine: Builder Warranties
Your new home will come with a warranty to ensure that you have recourse should any possible issues arise with your new home. Your home comes with a 1 year warranty on materials and workmanship, a
2 year mechanical, electrical and plumbing warranty and a 10 year structural warranty.
